Advantages of breed Labrador Retriever

Labradors just shine from vitality and incredibly playful.

They are often turned up in young families. In England, Labradors are a sign of a happy family.

If for some reason the owner does not have time to play with his pet, he will find entertainment for himself.

The friendly nature of the Labrador lies not only in the genes of these dogs, but is already officially in the breed standard.

Ready to share his joy, Labrador is friends with everyone.

Labrador will be the best friend of the child and will happily take part in joint games and entertainment.

Since the Labrador is initially a hunting dog, it is highly recommended to keep these dogs along with the birds. The latter can become a victim of the hunting instinct of Labradors.

Children and adolescents in the life of this dog last about three years. And at this age for them it is very characteristic to be distracted during the exercises. However, on the whole, they are trained very easily and the teams memorize on the fly.

Labradors are in the top three of the smartest dogs who are able to master a new team in 5 or less repetitions, and in 95% (and higher) of cases they perform a command voiced by the owner the first time!

The world in which this dog lives loves her. And the dog loves this world and all its inhabitants in return. It is unacceptable to undermine this disinterested love of Labrador to people, because it can lead to the fact that the pet becomes quiet, sad and imperceptible.

Advantages of breed Labrador Retriever
Labradors deserve their popularity not only for their friendly temper. They are excellent swimmers, helpers on the hunt, have a nose, which has almost no analogues among domestic dogs.

For example, a German shepherd copes with investigative activity 25% worse.

Labradors are very smart, they are used in the police service (more often for searching and finding the missing things, weapons, drugs, money), they do an excellent job with the role of guides for the blind.

And this is not the whole list of amazing, useful and important qualities of a Labrador.

According to research conducted in the United States, these dogs are among the four most popular breeds in the world.

How was such a universal breed formed? Was she always loved her so much and was she always such a good friend to man?

To answer these questions, we will conduct a brief excursion into the history of the Labrador breed.

The history of the breed Labrador Retriever
The history of the appearance of a Labrador is covered, albeit not with darkness, but with a light haze, through which various versions of the development of a modern Labrador continually flow to us. Attention deserve four basic theories of the origin of the Labrador breed.

The first theory, which has the largest number of supporters, says that the ancestors of the Labradors were Newfoundlands, which were crossed with another little-known large dog. It could have been a small Newfoundland dog, or a St. John (Saint John) dog.

At that time (approximately XIX century) on the island of Newfoundland breeders were guided by two breeds of dogs.

From the first of these, a modern, dense-haired breed originated, eventually called “Newfoundland”, while the second was slightly smaller. She became the ancestor of the Labrador Retriever breed.

Since scientists still cannot track the ancestors of St. John’s dogs themselves, it’s generally accepted that the roots of the breed are located on the island of Newfoundland (an island off North America on the northeast side that separates the Gulf of St. Lawrence from the Atlantic Ocean; Labrador).

The second theory is based on the fact that initially so-called water dogs were brought to the island of Newfoundland, which eventually became the forefathers of Labradors.

At the Portuguese water dogs, people practiced the same working qualities that later became inherent to Labradors, pulling nets and boats from the sea, saving drowning and drowning people (in particular, necessary things, “running away” fish, etc.).

In this regard, conclusions about the origins of Labradors from Portuguese water dogs are quite reasonable.

The third theory (more than once its inconsistency was proved) states that the ancestors of the Labradors were the dogs of the Indians of North America.

The theory turned out to be untenable after the archaeological excavations, which indicated that the Indians’ dogs were of a completely different type and could in no way become the ancestors of Labradors.

The fourth theory states that the roots of Labradors should be sought among the dogs of the ancient Scandinavians, who settled on the island before our era.
