How to wean a Labrador from bad habits

Your little labrador is growing. And from the charming “ball on thick legs” turns into a rather naughty puppy. The first problems with upbringing have already begun. You do not always have enough time to work out with the dog. And the dog grows, and sometimes we do not notice that we often develop in our puppy those bad habits that remain with him for life.

But fortunately, a puppy in the house very quickly disciplines his owners. And such things as tattered shoes and “read” books, torn wallpaper and eaten table legs very quickly bring us to life, and we decide it’s time to act. But it is always easier to prevent mistakes than to correct them. Is the dog sleeping on the couch / bed? But if you didn’t want the puppy to sleep on the sofa, why did you take him to your bed the first night? Yes, he is poor and unhappy cut off from his mother, “crying” at night. In addition, you changed your favorite linens, making your bed with something simpler. You regretted it once, and now this hippo does not want to sleep in his place.

While you are at home, this situation can be controlled. What to do when you are not at home? Try the tried and tested method, put upturned chairs or stools on the sofa so that the puppy cannot climb on it. Leave the puppy within the same room when you leave. Or close all the rooms and leave the puppy in the hallway if it is spacious enough. At the same time, not forgetting to remove the shoes and turn on the light so that the puppy does not sit in the dark. Begging? Well, of course, why not treat a puppy with tasty food when it sits and, with “hungry” eyes, takes every bite into its mouth?

First: Is your dog fasting? I think no. You feed him several times a day, (dry or natural food) and he gets everything he needs for growth and development. And the pieces from the table very quickly turn the puppy into a beggar. Not to mention the fact that sweets, sausage, fried meat, seasonings and spices contained in them are harmful to his health.

Secondly: why do you let him into the kitchen when you sit down to eat? Teach a puppy from an early age to the fact that when you eat, he does not go into the kitchen. The first time you have to, close the door in front of his nose and listen to indignant whine, and maybe your pet’s barking. But if you want to eat without the participation of a Labrador snout in your plate, you endure it. Paws on everyone entering the house? Of course, the bored all day pet, not enough to hear: “Hello dog!”. He was waiting for you all day and now wants to lick and express his feelings to you.

Have you tried to lean over to your dog and give it a minute of attention when you come home? Does not help? Unrestrained energy boils in your Labrador, and he still wants to hug you. Then try the “knee in the chest” or “step on the hind paw.” It requires some skill. You need to get ahead of the dog running towards you, putting your knee forward. Not allowing thereby to put your hands on you. Well, if it happened, you have to step on a bully on your hind leg. Strong enough for the dog to feel it, but at the same time carefully, so as not to crush his paw.
