Large, powerful, beautiful Labradors are one of the most popular breeds. They have a wonderful character and unpretentious care. By standards, this is a friend dog, so obedient hunters are made from them. And, most importantly – it is a true and devoted friend of man.

The history of the breed begins in 1494 on the island of Newfoundland (the territory of modern Canada). Locals mainly engaged in fishing and hunting, and the dogs that lived with them took game from the water.
Two types of dogs – with thick short hair and a long wavy mane, received the name retriever, originating from English to retrieve – to seek and bring prey. The main part of the entire population were short-haired Labradors.

In foggy Albion, they appeared in the 30s-40s of the XIX century, and immediately gained great popularity due to the positive reviews of hunting skills. But in 1885 the import of Labradors was stopped, and breeding continued only with previously imported animals.

In 1903, the Labrador breed was recognized at the Kennel Club and was given its official name. The centenary anniversary of the breed in 2003 was celebrated on a large scale. The largest exhibition of dogs took more than 1 thousand participants.

Labradors often become service dogs. They are often in demand in the following areas:

Guides for visually impaired people.
Mountain rescue.
In search of narcotic and explosive compounds.
Assistance to various rescue services.
Labradors are also able to work on long journeys in harness. But the main advantage of such breeds of dogs is their character. This is a great, loyal friends, pets of all family members.

They participate in all spheres of life of their masters, not only in hunting. Dogs are completely devoid of aggression and get along well with children. Owner reviews indicate that Labs are characterized by boundless devotion to their owners.

Labrador is an active dog that is waiting for one hundred percent attention of its owner, long walks and attentive attitude towards itself. Dogs have great patience and endurance.
Labradors get on well with children, do not show aggression, are very friendly and agreeable. Such a dog can be left without fear in a room with a small child, without fear that he will harm him. Owners’ reviews prove that children and Labs can become best friends.

Labradors get along well with almost all pets. Some difficulties can arise only with birds, since the hunting instinct in dogs is developed quite strongly.

Dogs can miss very much during prolonged loneliness, they are bored without owners in a locked apartment. But at a meeting bring down such a flow of joy and happiness that it is impossible to remain indifferent. Playful, optimistic Labradors are great allies and loyal friends.
